For the most part, I work mostly within the concept art field , but I am open to talk about other proposals as well in regards to other venues of Illustration. Regardless of where you take your project, here are the different stages that I reach when it comes to image development.
If you need something to be modeled in 3d or even 2d, a model sheet acts as a blueprint for whatever your creating. Typically characters will have a front, side, and 3/4 view, unless specified. Props/Vehicles will usually have a front and side rendered.
Character design would explore the visual look and appeal for the next face of your project. Starting after a brief, we would explore silhouettes, internal structure's value and color comps with a final illustration of the project. Full modeling sheets are discussed below.
As a follower of the hobby, one of the biggest thrills for me is bringing written stats and thought into a full character. While reference is preferred, we can also work out what your thinking in terms of a visual
Need to develop a device or weapon? Or perhaps a new pair of wheels or wings? Similar to the process above, we start off with loose silhouettes, followed with internal structure, values, and color, all leading to a final colored piece.
