Atomic Tide Cover
This was one of my personal favorite pieces to work on. For our assignment, we had to create a book cover, (either one that already existed or a made up one) using both a traditional medium and digital media. (In this case Photoshop.) I settled on ink on illustration board with plans to digitally color the image afterwards. I have to admit, the large board I ended up using became a cumbersome obstacle as I had to work around the board frequently, It was also the first time that I worked with ink washes. It was tricky, especially being in a climate that dried the ink quite quickly. Patience was also a virtue having to build up layers. slowly and cautiously. In the end though, it all wrapped up beautifully in the end after scanning the piece in. The digital magic of filling in the image with color was quite exceptional. I have yet to try this method again, but with such an amazing result, I wouldn't mind bringing the pens out again.
